ABOUT THE WELSUMMER CLUB
|
|
AIMS
The Club exists to promote the Welsummer and to look after the best interests
of the breed and its keepers.
THE CLUB
The Club was formed in 1928, but it had been around as the Welsummer Society
for two years before that.
The growing popularity of the breed has helped it become one of the biggest
poultry breed clubs in the UK.
MEMBERS YEARBOOK
The Poultry Club of Great Britain holds an annual competition for the best
breed club yearbook. The Welsummer Club wins this award with regularity!
WELSUMMERS AT SHOWS
In the UK and Ireland, the Club annually stages two national championship
shows, as well as a national egg show and six regional shows. Many regional
livestock shows devote special classes to Welsummers.
Shows are real shop windows for any breed and provide living illustrations of
the breed standard. They are also a means of demonstrating just what is
perceived to be an ideal specimen.
KEEPING WELSUMMERS
Welsummer Club members may, or may not, be interested in showing. They just
love the bird for itself, for its grace, its character, its temperament and its
eggs.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP
The Club always welcomes new members. We already have a few from outside the
UK. Click this link to go to the Membership page.
